Combe Head Meadow

Olde English 'Babydolls'
Our flock
We have a small breeding flock of Olde English 'Babydolls' here at Combe Head Meadow. These wonderful sheep help us to manage the vineyard and our ancient meadow. Our girls are firm favourites, both with us, and our glamping guests.
We breed from our ewes every year and have a limited number of Babydoll lambs for sale every spring. These miniature sheep are now rare in the UK with just a handful of registered flocks. They are an endearing breed and highly sought after.
About the breed
Originating from the historic Southdown flocks of England, Olde English Babydoll Southdowns are a charming heritage breed of sheep, loved for their small stature, distinctive “teddy bear” faces, and gentle temperament.
Babydoll's are known for their efficient grazing habits, they help maintain pasture and control weeds without damaging young trees, while their soft, dense fleece and easy lambing make them a rewarding choice for keepers of all experience levels. They are ideal small farms and rural properties and make excellent lawn-mowing pets!
These miniature sheep are perfect for vineyards, small enough to graze comfortably beneath the vine canopy without damaging the grapes or foliage. Their gentle, selective feeding helps manage grass and weeds between rows, reducing the need for mechanical mowing and supporting a more sustainable, low-impact approach to vineyard care—all while bringing their distinctive “teddy bear” charm to the vineyard.
